Las Ramblas is known as the main thoroughfare of Barcelona and you'll find all walks of life here, from tourists to locals. The long promenade is pedestrianised and is home to many street performers. Onlookers sit at the majestic fountains to enjoy the show. The street also has plenty of shopping opportunities as well as a wealth of restaurants and cafes to choose from, suiting every budget. The famous Liceu Theatre is on this street, and regularly stages ballets and operas. For a real taste of Catalan life, head to La Boqueria market, one of the most vibrant in Spain. This street market is filled with the freshest produce as well as stalls serving excellent street food. If you'd like to see some examples of the Art Nouveau architecture that Barcelona is so famous for, the Passeig de Gracia is within walking distance and has many beautiful buildings, as well as high end hotels, great restaurants and designer boutiques. There are three metro stations within minutes of the apartment.
