The former medieval town of Gràcia was long ago subsumed into the expanding Barcelona, and the Vila de Gràcia is now a thriving neighborhood in the heart of the city, offering easy access to much of what Barcelona has to offer. This apartment is close to the border with the Eixample district, which forms a narrow half-mile barrier to the Ciutat Vella. While you can easily walk to the Barri Gothic along the inviting stretch of pedestrian-friendly Passeig de Gràcia, there’s plenty to keep you occupied closer to home. Gràcia’s narrow streets are home to an exciting array of cafes, pubs and unique shops that cater to a range of demographics and tastes. You’ll see as many old-world Catalan pensioners as you will students and artists, and the combination makes for a quintessentially Barcelonan atmosphere that you won’t find in more touristic districts.
Despite a homey residential vibe, you’re not far enough from the beaten path to miss anything important. The Sagrada Familia is just minutes away, and in the other direction you can quickly get to the hilltop Park Güell where you can orient yourself with an iconic view of the city center. To get you farther from home, two nearby metro lines offer easy access to the four corners of the city. The central location offers an alternative to more touristic districts without sacrificing convenience.
